The Best Volunteer Job I have ever had?

The best job (paid or
volunteer) that I have ever had?
![Description: http://www.losh.ucla.edu/yw/ywla/images/2009_mentors.JPG](file:///C:/Users/CURTIS~1.BRA/AppData/Local/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image002.jpg)

The
best volunteer job that I have ever had was that I mentored and helped young
teenage youth to help them find their inner potential. My responsibilities were
to help the young teenage youth become knowledgeable young people that have
bright futures ahead of them and I was to teach them the right and wrongs of
life. Another responsibility that I had and still do have is to reach out to
those individuals and make sure that they take life by the horns and no matter
what anyone tells you, you can do whatever you want to do. I loved working with
those young teenage youth because they teach me new things every day and I loved
it. The thing that exhilarated
me was that I got to give back to my community and still do give back to my
community every day with no regrets about anything that I do. Also, I enjoyed
being around the young teenage youth and teaching them as well as learning new
things and mainly getting the chance to see myself in a bright and young man or
woman. One teenage youth that I remember who was a great person for me to teach
and to learn other things from was a girl named Thalia, and a boy named Mario.
These 2 young teenage youth are the epitome of what it means to be a true
leader in the community and they both understand that risks that need to be
taken in order to be what you want to be and not to let anyone tell you
otherwise and they knew how to do these things so well that they ended up
teaching me new things it applies to internship because I have developed Leadership,
Motivation, Honor, Respect, and Loyalty.

My progress with reading Freakonomics!!!!!

How
the reading process has been for me?
The reading
has not exhilarate me at all honestly because I despise this book because
this book in my opinion makes no since what so ever. I don’t understand the
book even though I read it because it is a homework assignment and honestly if I
had a choice I wouldn’t read this book anymore because this book totally doesn’t
catch my attention.
The advice
that I would give to someone else honestly is that they should read this book
at their own risk of either liking the book and or not liking the book. Then I
would tell them why I don’t like the book period and then after that it is
initially up to them whether they want to read the book or not.
I would
always read the assigned pages and do the work on the day that it is assigned
and then wait until it is time to revisit the work again, but honestly I would
never pick the assignment up again until we are all in class and discussing the
assignment as a group.
I read the
book on bart and at home until I am done with the assigned chapters and then I do
the assigned work and then i put the assignment away and never touch it again
until the day we brng them out in class.

Police
turn tables on Brighton DJ - they arrest him for refusing to lower the volume
There was a report that the Boston
Police had arrested a BU student they said responded to their request either
turn his music down or roll up his window and instead he turned his music up.
The Police officers stated that the noise complaint at 109 Brainerd Rd. shortly
after 5 p.m. yesterday was met by a wall of sound emanating from a third-floor
apartment - and by a resident who asked them to do something about it.
The officers came and knocked on
the apartment door for a while before the suspect opened the door. The officers
advised the person playing the music was told to turn down the music due to the
multiple 911 calls. The person stated, "I'm not turning anything down!"
Officers advised the man to turn the music down and he clearly replied,
"I'm not turning it down."
Police say as the officers tried to
reason with Jurgen Lippert, more neighbors came out of their apartments and
pleaded with them to do something about the loud and obnoxious noise, but they
said that it was a daily occurrence. The police said that the apartment DJ
apologized for the disturbance to his neighbors but that he needed to
"practice mixing music." The police have clearly stated that the man
(Lippert) clearly turned his music up. Then officers had arrested him for
disturbing the peace.

My Pledge
My Pledge to myself and the class
I Curtis
Brandon pledge to learn more as a student at Year Up and become a well known and educated student with
the skills to become successful.
I pledge to use my resources for help when
I don’t understand something and become a resource so everyone can come to me
and ask me questions and I can provide them with the help they are seeking.
Also, to become a better person overall in
this programs to the point to where I can do anything I want with no regrets
and successfully through Year Up
and live a happy life with Year Up under my belt, and by watching my Verbal
Vices.
Finally, to pass all of my classes in the 2nd
and 3rd module of Year Up and become someone who can teach people
about anything with the knowledge to speak based on what I know and not relying
on my peers for everything. I plan to do this by studying hard and not letting
anyone and anything distract me from my goals. I am also going to understand
the work a bit more.
Sincerely,
Curtis Brandon

Stigma
Ghetto people
According
to the article, stigmas are a way of speaking to a person without using words,
but only using gestures. In our society today we have people who want to be
ghetto in order to either fit in or be hip/hood. Like this:
This is an image that
was found over the internet under ghetto white boys and they are called the “ICY
HOT STUNTAZ” and from what I have researched about them according to what they
call themselves is that they were the coolest group of dudes to ever be around.
Honestly this is how I feel about the situation being that they claim to be
cool rappers that everyone should be around because they can rap (they got flow),
so this is how I feel: “for the love of god you’re a 15 year old suburban
white-boy, not some ghetto gangbanger. I hope this website is a joke because if
it isn’t than you need to 1) look in the mirror and realize you’re not black 2)
stop with the lame “gang signs” 3) pawn some of that jewelry and buy yourself a
bike because that’s all your 15 year old ass can drive 4) realize that you’re
not hardcore or intimidating in the slightest bit 5) learn how to spell 6) stop
with the stupid nick names. For the record I think that you’re in the middle of
some terrible identity crisis, and you should go to the ghetto and try “Pimpin”
with some real gangsters and see how long you live. Sometimes the truth hurts
to some people to have to see people try to be something that they are not.
Another picture of some
want to be ghetto people from the movie Malibu’s Most Wanted and this is the
scene in the movie where Malibu Also Known As B-Rad in the gray and yellow went
to a shampoo and conditioner store and they tried to demand some free Shampoo
and Conditioner products.
In the movie B-Rad had
said: “This is our mall. always has been, always will be! There's about to be
some hard core drama about to go down right neow! (Hodges: that's right. (Lady
at desk: ohhh Mr. O’merclanni, our clerk gave you the wrong aroma therapy
candles. here you go. (B-Rad looks at Hodges funny)(B-Rad: that's what i'm
talkin about! we get ours! (Moe barks)(B-Rad: you validat perkin? (Lady: of
coures sir. Then, there was another line that I thought was hilarious and that
line is: “Man why do you keep callin me that? That’s you name isn't it? B-Rad: That’s my slave name I told you like 50 times!
S~ ok B-Rad! B~ wassup? S~ what are your goals in life B-Rad: To be the biggest
rapper there ever was! Let me kick a freestyle for you right now SHRINK SHRINK
BLINKTEY BLINK TRY TO MAKE ME THINK MAKE ME WANA GO TO MY SINK AND VOMIT THEN
CLEAN IT UP WITH COMET EARTH IS MY PLONET that’s a million dollar song right
there! S~ so how long have you been this shizznitt (stutters) B~ Ah every since
i was a little shawty! I had these beats in my head that Icouldn’t forget! My
parents were always on different channels M~ Were not leaving till your eat
those vegatables D~Mmmm those look good YB~ forget ya'll S~ so what your saying
is that your parents were never there for you? B~ no! M~ now that is not true!
